A WALK IN THE GARDEN

                                                      A          WALK          IN          THE        GARDEN

So much of life, it seems to me, is determined by pure randomness. “ Sidney Poitier

An example … a hypothetical one … to illustrate how randomness makes it difficult to predict future events :

Rudolph was reading the book “Critique of pure reason“ by Immanuel Kant. It was ten in the night. He decided to stop reading and go to sleep. As he went to close the main door he could feel the pleasant and invigorating breeze outside in the garden. Why not .. he thought .. I should take a walk in the garden.

So he took that walk in the garden, came back inside, closed the main door, bolted from inside, switched off the lamps, and went to sleep.

There was no way Rudolph could predict, that about one hundred and fifty years later, about twenty million people would die … all because of that walk in the garden … all because of a mosquito bite during that walk in the garden … all because of his falling sick with malaria consequent on the mosquito bite during that walk in the garden … all because of his getting hospitalized as a result of  his falling sick with malaria consequent on  that mosquito bite during that walk in the garden … all because of the beautiful nurse that looked after him in that hospital.

Yes indeed there was no way anyone could predict that twenty million people will lose their lives  … all because of a man called Rudolph falling in love with a young and beautiful nurse who looked after him while he was under treatment in a hospital consequent on his falling sick with malaria as a result of a mosquito bite during the time he took a walk in his garden.

They got married … Rudolph and the nurse … and lived happily thereafter.

They had a daughter … she was Hitler`s grandmother.
